MY JEEP HISTORY

My introduction to 4wheeling began back in 1988 when i bought a brand new Nissan Pathfinder to avoid the hassels of putting chains on when i went skiing.That summer i bought a forrest service map and started taking all the 4wd trails i found marked on the map.In 1990 i met Dave,a neighbor that lived down the street. Dave owned a 1981 CJ5 rockcrawler and we started talking about 4- wheeling.He then asked me to join him on a Rubicon trip.It took all day to make the short trip to spider lake,Dave had to pull,winch and pile rocks to get me there and the damage to the pathfinder was getting considerable. I was amazed at how easy the jeeps and landcruisers made it look to do.So a month later i sold the pathfinder and bought my 1982 CJ5.I got it from a guy that owned a 4wheel drive repair shop.I left it in the shop for a week while they put new springs, lockers front and rear,410 gears ,summers brothers axels and a jamboree rack on it to make it trail ready.I brought it home on friday night and Dave and i took off for the Rubicon the next morning.We went from Wentworth springs to Lake Tahoe without a problem.What a difference from my trip with the pathfinder!-i've been hooked ever since.
